Becoming a Sidelines Equestrian

Hello, and welcome back to the blog. It’s been a while since I’ve written- far longer than I intended. I guess I just haven’t known what to say. My baby is now almost 9 weeks old and while he keeps me very busy, I still think about and miss horses, riding and writing on my …

New Year Intentions 2023

Hello, and welcome back to the blog! Today I would like to share my intentions for 2023. I like to create intentions for all areas of my life; mind and spirit, physical, environmental, social, financial and vocational. However, for the purpose of this blog, I am going to focus on my equestrian goals. 2022 has …

No Stirrups November- Challenge Accepted

I remember seeing the No Stirrups November challenge last year but I didn't take part. This year, I remembered on time and so I have decided I would like to give it a go. I have decided to challenge myself to ride 10 times (at least) throughout November with no stirrups. The main reason I …

What I learned from sharing my horse

When I took on a Highland pony a few months back, the opportunity to share Bo came up. I thought at the time it would be a useful thing to do both because I had another horse to ride and because my fiancé and I are planning to emigrate and so having someone set up …

5 Ways to Achieve the Work/Life/Horses Balance

Normal people (as in non-horse folk) struggle as it is to have the sought after 'work-life balance'. Society now is so goal focussed that people are working ridiculously hard and yet still feel incomplete, rushed or like that hamster running on the wheel but never getting anywhere. Before I started my teaching career in August …

Tips To Help You and Your Horse Through The Winter

If you are an equestrian in Britain then this post just might be for you. Winter in Britain is usually very changeable- from frosty and the occasional snowy days to gale force winds and unrelenting rain. As a result of this, our fields are muddy, our horses are muddy and we ourselves get muddy, not …

New Year Goals 2021

I love New Year. There is just something about the close of a chapter and an opening of another that excites and inspires me. I find it helpful to reflect on the year past and to find hope and make decisions for a better year to come. I have already got my new journal sorted- …

Goals for 2020

Bo and I have been together for a long time. I've had him since he was 12 years old and he is now 18! I can never quite believe my little horse is this age, though it is not as if he acts it!Just the other day I was saying how he has mellowed out …

In this new blog post I share my current situation with horses and my new year horsey goals while I’m in this season where I don’t have my own horse to visit 💜 And so horses have worked their way back into my life- new blog post 😊♥️ The ‘Bo’ pose🤣 Had this memory pop up from 9 years ago! Such good times with Bo ♥️ ‘She loves horses’- sure do but none quite as much as Bo. The old boy turned 24 today and deserves a celebratory reel of some of my favourite pictures ♥️ A clip my mum sent through- the old boys still got it 😍♥️ After almost a week being cooped up in a stable thanks to Cyclone Alfred, Flicka has now moved to another new place until our paddocks’ flooding has receded. Was so great to see her stretching her legs ♥️ One day closer to the cyclone approaching and glad to see Flicka has settled well into her new temporary reality ♥️ With Cyclone Alfred on his way, Flicka and her field mates have moved to a safer place and are all tucked up in lovely stables until this is all over! 🌀
